THREE QUESTIONS WITH…
Mary-Mitchell Campbell (pictured above with Hunter Ryan Herdlicka), music director of MCC Theater’s upcoming Carrie.
1. What’s your favorite part of working with actors?
My favorite part about working with actors is crafting the music in the show to match the characters and story. It is so exciting when we are able to get really specific with choices!
2. How did you first get involved (fall in love?) with musical theater?
I worked at a dinner theater in North Carolina when I was a teenager and became very interested in musicals. My senior year in high school I saw a production of Baby at my school- University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and I knew I wanted to pursue telling stories through music.
3. What excites you about Carrie, in particular?
I’m excited about bringing Carrie back to life and giving her a new incarnation. It has been a joy to work on this wonderful score and spend time with Michael Gore and AnnMarie Milazzo in the creative process.
