I continuously tell everybody at MCC that I’m slightly shy, and they don’t for a second believe me. In fact, several staff members have told me that I’m simply wrong, I’m not shy at all. So, I was hiding by the bar early on when Executive Director Blake West grabbed me to pull me into a conversation with two lovely Patrons. The conversation quickly grew into four lovely Patrons, then six. And halfway through an amazing discussion about the play, about MCC, and about issues the play brought up in everybody’s lives, I suddenly remembered “I’m not being shy at all; crap, everybody at MCC is looking at me right now and thinking ‘he’s not shy at all, what a liar.’” And right then I looked across the room and caught Development Director Erica Schwartz’s eye for the first time in the evening. She smiled and waved, and even though she was probably thinking “oh, look, there’s Jeff” I was pretty sure she was thinking “that guy is so full of it; he’s not shy at all.” All of which is to say, just another fabulous night out with the MCC family. Whether I’m shy or not, I’m certainly lucky.
